Posting cadence
Posting cadence is how often and on what rhythm you publish, such as one TikTok a day or three Reels a week, kept steady over time.
What posting cadence means
Posting cadence is the rhythm you publish on: how many posts, on which days, across which platforms. 'One TikTok every weekday and two carousels a week on Instagram' is a cadence. 'Whenever we have time' is not.
There is no single correct frequency, and platform advice changes. What matters more is picking a pace you can keep for months. Our guide on how often to post on TikTok walks through how to choose.
An example weekly plan
| Day | TikTok | |
|---|---|---|
| Mon | Slideshow (education) | Carousel (education) |
| Tue | Reaction hook video | - |
| Wed | Slideshow (proof) | Reel (proof) |
| Thu | Hook and demo | - |
| Fri | GIF meme (culture) | Carousel (product) |
Each slot maps to a content pillar, so you know what to make before you sit down. The content calendar template lays this out for a full month.
Why it matters
A steady cadence gives you more chances to find what works and more data to learn from. Each post is a test of a hook, a format or a topic. Posting five times in one day and then nothing for three weeks gives you less to learn from and makes your account feel abandoned to anyone who visits.
💡Batch your work. Writing and producing a week of posts in one sitting is much easier than starting fresh every day.
Cadence also helps you read results fairly. If you post at a similar time and pace each week, a post that clearly beats the rest is more likely to be telling you something about its hook or topic, not just about when it went out.
Common mistakes
- Starting at a pace you cannot sustain, then burning out in week two.
- Posting more just to hit a number, with quality dropping each time.
- Changing cadence every week, so you cannot compare results.
- Ignoring repurposing; one idea can become a slideshow, a carousel and a Reel.
